Notice that augend, minuend, multiplicand, and dividend all begin with the kanji \u00e8\u00a2\u00ab, in this case meaning receiving the action of the arithmetic operation. In a mostly unrelated aside, this is also the kanji used with \u00e6\u00b3\u2022, which means divisor, in:<\/p>\n
